Fiscal Sponsorship for Grants through the Wakan Foundation for the Arts: |
|||||||||
|
*Because of commitments to other projects, the Wakan Foundation for the Arts will be suspending it's fiscal sponsorship program until 2006. We will post an update as to when our fiscal sponsorship program will resume. Thank you for your understanding. The Wakan Foundation for the Arts would like to support artists and project directors who would like to apply for grants for nonprofit arts projects that make a positive difference in the world. Although we do not grant funding directly, we accept project applications for "grant fiscal sponsorship," which allows you to apply to government and other grant sources through our 501(c)(3) non-profit status. Our Grant Fiscal Sponsorship Program allows you to apply for grants from other non-profit foundations using the Wakan Foundation for the Arts as your fiscal sponsor. Most government and non-profit grant sources require that grants be awarded to either non-profit 501(c)(3) foundations, or individuals or organizations that have a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor, and that the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization remain financially responsible for making sure that the funding is used appropriately. Even though the Wakan Foundation for the Arts serves as a fiscal sponsor for a project, the applicant would retain creative control and freedom, and the copyright to the project. Most grant-making agencies that provide funding require that the fiscal sponsor assume financial responsibility for the project and ensure that the funding received is spent in a responsible way as was stated in the applicant's grant proposal. In most cases, the grant-making organization requires that an applicants fiscal sponsor receives the grant, and then disperses funding to the artist or organization that is applying for grants. Before submitting your Grant Fiscal Sponsorship application, please read our Grant Fiscal Sponsorship Guidelines and Frequently Asked Questions about Grant Fiscal Sponsorship. Your first step in receiving fiscal sponsorship from the Wakan Foundation for the Arts is to fill in our grant fiscal sponsorship application, which you will find here: Grant Fiscal Sponsorship Application Once we receive your application, we will then review your project idea or proposal and contact you when we have made a decision whether to accept your project for fiscal sponsorship through the Wakan Foundation for the Arts. Our goal is to accept all worthy projects whenever possible. Our main mission is to serve Humanity and the Greatest Good through the arts, and we want to support artists and project directors who have projects that will serve this end. Fees: 1) There is a $10 fee for submitting our Grant Fiscal Sponsorship Application. 2) Once your application has been approved for fiscal sponsorship, then there is a $35 administrative and acceptance fee so that you can use our 501(c)(3) status to apply for funding and grants. Upon acceptance, you will also receive a letter from us stating that we have accepted your project for fiscal sponsorship. 3) To help us with administrative costs for being the fiscal sponsor for your project, 7% of the grants raised will be used for accounting and administrative expenses relating to your project.
