Guidelines for Grant Fiscal Sponsorship through the Wakan Foundation for the Arts:

The Wakan Foundation for the Arts has a mission of supporting art and artists that serve humanity and the Greatest Good. These guidelines are to serve to help both the artist fund and create their inspiring projects, as well as to ensure that the Wakan Foundation for the Arts is legally protected in serving as the fiscal sponsor.

1) The artist will retain creative control of his or her project, as well as the project's copyright. Your project must remain within the description of the application and proposal that you submitted to the Wakan Foundation for the Arts. If you wish to make a change in your project, please let us know and we will try to agree on a creative change in your project.

2) Projects must be nonprofit in nature, and must be aligned with our mission of "serving humanity and the world through the arts."

3) As required by nearly all grant-making organizations and government grant sources, the Wakan Foundation for the Arts will be financially responsibly for your project. We will be held liable if funding is spent irresponsibly, and so legally we will be required to administer and disburse the received grant funds to your project according to the budget that you created and presented.

4) As the fiscal sponsor for your project, the project may receive grants and donations from other nonprofit and government grant sources, as well as from private individuals. Because of our 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, all donors are eligible for the highest tax-deduction allowable by law for a charitable donation.

5) Of course, within your budget, you may include a line item for salaries to you and to other necessary staff for your project. Be aware, however, that grantmakers would like to see reasonable costs for salaries.

6) When credit is presented for a project, in a film or program for an art show for example, the Wakan Foundation for the Arts would like to receive credit as "Fiscal Sponsor."

7) There is a $10 application fee to submit a fiscal sponsorship application, as well as a $35 administrative acceptance fee once your project has been accepted and you would like to begin to use the Wakan Foundation for the Arts as your fiscal sponsor for donations and grants. To cover our administrative, accounting and legal costs, the Wakan Foundation for the Arts will retain 5% of all donations and grants received.

We wish you great success with your project, and we are committed to helping you serve the Greatest Good through your project.
